Plastic and Recycling
1. What is Plastic?
Plastis is a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be moulded into shape while soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form. (Oxford Dictionary)

What happens after the life of plastic? Is it burnt, recycled or something different?
Plastic is a convenient material but it comes with many problems, especially for our environment. Each and every day, we use plastic extremely often, e.g., to wrap up our food, to protect goods or to cover something. Furthermore, we use it in building and construction, in transportation, in the medical as well as many other fields. And after that? We throw it away, hopefully seperated from other garbage. But even at the end of its life phase, plastic remains a too valuable resource to be simply thrown away. (Plastic contains valuable, finite materials which can be recycled)
Another big problem is the durability of plastic of about 500 years, because plastic reaches our seas and lands and does not rot that easily. These facts make our life more difficult, because it destroys our whole environment and all animals, us, the humans and all living creatures on our Earth. THAT'S WHY WE SHOULD NOT JUST THROW IT AWAY!

Causes for our environment of plastic pollution
Usually, plastic rubbish is seperated and burnt (The worst way --> Carbon Dioxide, toxic gases) or recycled by your local waste management. But often the rubbish reaches our seas or will be burnt on our lands which causes serious harm to the environment. This has serious consequences for our future life! So EVERYBODY could CHANGE THAT.

So what could we do?
First of all, we should reuse plastic and plastic packaging as often as possible. Pay attention to what you want to buy (the less plastic packaging the better), try to renounce plastic packaging and use other more environmentally friendly packaging like paper, organic packing etc.
If the end of its life phase is reached, you should separate your plastic waste from Paper and household rubbish. Or you could bring it to a local recycling center which would be the best way. There it could be recycled or reused it in his elementary form. But could you also use the „old“ or used plastic in a another way? Try to create something completly new out of that (Upcyling). Much stores around the world sell this art, created out of used plastic and other materials.

PLEASE pay attention
to your social surroundings, pay attention to plastic recycling so that
we have the chance to change that and mind the 4-way principle:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Regenerate
KEEP REPONSIBILITY!
Collect plastic waste, sort it, recycle it!

Difference between the USA and Germany
What's about other people? What do they think
about? [Interview]
Questionnarie with different people
1. What do you think about plastic recycling?
-I think it´s a good thing because recycling is very environment conscious.
2. How much attention spends germany in plastic recycling?
-Well, I think that germany pays much attention in plastic recycling, more than other european countries.
3. How much attention to plastic recycling spend the people in the US?
-Before I came here I thought that they don't really care about recycling and their environment but they seperate the waste like we do. It´s not as good as in germany but they pays also attention in plastic recycling.
4. Did you ever be on a plastic recycling farm?
-Not really but I´ve seen some documentations and it´s realy interesting because there is so much plastic waste and it can be used several times. And in different ways.
5. How many plastic do you throw in the bucket on one day?
-I can´t give you a number but I drink from plastic bottles, the bread is covered in plastic, the cheese packing is made out of plastic and even vegetables are wrapped up in plastic. I think we in general use a lots of plastic.
6. In germany at every purchase or in every shopping malls you get this plastic bags. What did they use in america?
-In america you get a kind of paper bags.
7. What do you think is more sustainable? Plastic or paper bags?
-Plastic bags are of course easier to handle as paper bags because the paper bags can not carry so much without tearing. Plastic bags can also tear but in general they don´t tear easy as the paper bags do. Plastic bags are also gut because they can become recycled and for this paper bags trees must die. So me personaly I prefer plastic bags.
