"Think globally act locally"
This website was created by our English class during the Going Green Project.
After dealing with sustainability in general, we had the chance to take a closer look at how environmental issues are tackled in the USA and Germany.
We learned that it is not enough to rely on global initatives to make the world "go green". Another interesting fact we learned during the project is that in the USA, environmental issues are often dealt with at grassroot level. Learning this motivated us to develop our own action plans in order to "think globally and to act locally".
We as a class agree that it is our responsibility to take action and would like to show our readers that there are several different ways to achieve sustainability. Having our own website now allows us to publish the effort and creativity each group has put into their local project. We all had different ideas on how to "go green" and now combine these ideas online. In other words we "thought locally" and now "act globally".
Putting our ideas online also is a great chance for us to encourage Americans as well as Germans to exchange their ideas on the project. Therefore we took the decision to include a transatlantic forum to our website. People from both sides of the Atlantic are encouraged to post their ideas about the project on our forum. Please do not hesitate to pose questions and of course all feedback will be most appreciated.
Our class is still interested to learn more about the topic and desperately hopes to find interested students to share their views with us on our forum.
This would make our webite and our ideas even more "sustainable".
